| x | This large drawing is possibly the most elaborate of Leydenfrost's extraordinary series of ads for Banker's Trust, beaming post-WWII optimism, that were a combination of photorealism and surrealistic fantasy. This is an unapologetic glorification of capitalism: the small group of traders who gathered under a chestnut tree in New York City's colonial days is the beginnings of Wall Street. This is surrounded by the result of access to capital: the immense edifice of thriving industrial power, from skyscrapers to chemical refineries and ocean liners in the distance, all joined into a super-city. | x | |||||||||
